The Executive Governor of Adamawa State

Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, born on October 27, 1967, is currently serving as the governor of Adamawa State since 2019. Previously a member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and Speaker of the Assembly, he assumed the role of acting governor in July 2014 following the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako.

He emerged as the winner in the state gubernatorial election held on March 9, 2019, but the results were initially declared inconclusive. In a subsequent by-election on March 29, he secured victory with 376,552 votes.

In the 2023 General Elections, Fintiri was re-elected, winning the highest number of votes in the initial election held on March 18, 2023. The results were initially declared inconclusive, and after a by-election, he emerged victorious with 430,861 votes, defeating his closest rival Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress who polled 398,788 votes. The final results were announced by the INEC Returning Officer in the state, Mohammed Mele.
